National Apprenticeship Week: Meet Christina

Home > News > Employees > National Apprenticeship Week: Meet Christina

As part of National Apprenticeship Week, we are excited to highlight the journey of one of our talented apprentices at Cell Pack Solutions. Apprenticeships provide invaluable opportunities for hands-on learning, career development, and personal growth. Today, we introduce Christina O’Sullivan, our Sales Administrator Apprentice, to share her experiences and aspirations.

Getting to Know Christina

What’s your name, and what is your role at Cell Pack Solutions?
My name is Christina O’Sullivan, and I am a Sales Administrator Apprentice.

What attracted you to this apprenticeship/role?
I chose to search for apprenticeships because I didn’t enjoy the knowledge-based education universities offered. I prefer applying what I learn directly to a job rather than completing assignments. Not only does this build skills for a future career, but it also provides practical experience that I find far more valuable.

How did you get to this point?
After finishing college, I initially looked for a finance-based apprenticeship. However, I got cold feet about specialising too soon, so I broadened my search to business administration apprenticeships. This role is much broader, allowing me to learn and develop a wider range of skills.

Getting to Know Christina

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of work?
I don’t have any current hobbies, but I’d like to do more reading; Try my hand at crocheting, and potentially running or another physical activity.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
Teleportation! That way, I’d save a lot of time getting to places.

What’s your favourite time of year and why?
Christmas! I love giving gifts, and, of course, the food.

Do you have a motto or phrase that you live by?
“Everything happens for a reason.” Everything that has happened has shaped me into the person I am today. I wouldn’t change any of it for the world.

What’s your favourite type of music or artist?
My playlist is a mix of everything from the 1980s to the 2010s.

What’s the best TV show or movie you’ve watched recently?
Grease is always a great watch.

Do you prefer coffee or tea? Or something else entirely?
Both! It depends on my mood. I also love hot chocolate with marshmallows.

Favourite food treat?
Tea and biscuits, especially chocolate biscuits or fig rolls.

If you had a day off to do anything, how would you spend it?
I’d go on a late-night food shopping trip (it just feels different than shopping during the day!), travel somewhere new, and visit a farm.

Life as a Cell Pack Apprentice

What are your main responsibilities?
Right now, my main responsibilities include being the first point of contact for customers via phone, email, and live chat. I also process orders for account managers, manage the online customer account, update data sheets, and conduct weekly reports.

What are you most excited about learning during your apprenticeship?
I’m excited to see how my role will progress and what additional responsibilities I’ll take on in the future.

Did you ever imagine working in the battery industry? What has surprised you the most?
I never imagined working in the battery industry because I hadn’t really considered it before. What surprised me most is how many aspects of day-to-day life depend on batteries. You don’t realise the scenarios customers encounter until you work within the industry.

Is there anything you are particularly looking forward to working on here?
I look forward to strengthening my relationships with colleagues and taking on more responsibilities within the company.

Where do you see yourself in five years?
In five years, I see myself in an established job role. I also hope to be driving, either buying my own property or close to it, and have a pet.

How do you think this apprenticeship will help you achieve your goals?
This apprenticeship is providing me with the opportunity to learn not only about my role but also about the company and industry as a whole. The knowledge and skills I gain will help me take my next steps in my career and beyond.

At Cell Pack Solutions, we are proud to support our apprentices and provide them with the tools they need to succeed. Christina’s short time with us has already been packed with exciting opportunities that she’s taken head on. Already, she’s featured on BBC Look North, Celebrated with the team at the Young Professional Awards and took on the Cancer Connections Boxing Day Dip (despite not being able to swim!). Her journey is a great example of how apprenticeships can be a fantastic route into a rewarding career. We look forward to seeing her grow and achieve her goals.

Happy National Apprenticeship Week!
