At Cell Pack Solutions, we’ve always believed in making a positive contribution to both our local and wider communities. Whether it’s donating to local clubs and charities or reducing our environmental impact through sustainability efforts, we recognise that much of our success comes from the incredible people who surround us in the North East. As part of celebrating 25 years of Cell Pack Solutions, we wanted to give back by encouraging our staff to volunteer with charities and clubs that matter to them. We’ve also organised exciting challenges that provide incredible experiences while raising money for local causes.
We celebrated 25 years of business last November and have had a year packed with fundraising challenges and volunteering to celebrate! Everything from Skydiving to Beach Cleans, it’s really been an eventful year.
The team picked the perfect day to take on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge, as the sun was shining gloriously! Our group was a mix of seasoned walkers and those tackling their very first peak. While the weather was beautiful, the intense sunshine made the already demanding 24-mile route and 1,585m of ascent even more challenging. Despite the heat, everyone pushed through, showing incredible determination to reach their personal goals. Those who aimed to complete all three peaks did so just under the 12-hour time limit— and were rewarded with official 3 peaks medals to celebrate their huge achievement!
Our adrenaline junkies, Steph and Margaret (along with her son Ian), took the ultimate leap from 15,000 feet, thanks to Sky-High Skydiving! Together, they raised £1,000 for the local charity Cancer Connections and £790 for Cancer Research UK (CRUK). A special thank you goes to Ian, who joined his mum for the challenge and contributed £415 to our total, which included money from his workplace, Iksuda Therapeutics.
Cancer Connections is a local charity that has provided invaluable emotional support to several of our team members as they’ve faced the challenge of a cancer diagnosis, either personally or within their families. Their work is truly incredible and deeply appreciated!
In our fifth year participating in the Jarrow Relay for Life, we proudly celebrated the event surpassing £1,000,000 raised for Cancer Research UK (CRUK). As a team, we contributed £5,080 this year, bringing our total to £16,188 over the five years we’ve been involved in Relay.
On the day, the team battled rain and cold temperatures for 22 hours to demonstrate that cancer never sleeps. Overnight, our base camp turned into a literal swamp, which would have been a perfect fit for last year’s Relay when we dressed up as Shrek characters!
In the lead-up to the event, we also took part in the Pier to Pier Walk, Tesco collections, and our own challenges (mentioned above).
Alongside our fundraising efforts, we’ve been encouraging our team to give back through employee-supported volunteering. To date, we’ve given 171 hours of our time, with even more planned in the months ahead. Our team has been involved in a variety of activities, such as hosting supermarket collections, running local children’s clubs, taking part in litter picks, Marshalling at the Great North Run and helping out at local charity shops. We’ve also supported food banks, donating both time and products, and shared skills by building websites for local charities.
We’re incredibly proud of the team’s commitment to making a positive impact, both locally and beyond, through their volunteering and fundraising efforts.
Celebrating our 25th year with purpose and passion, we’re excited to continue making a difference in our community and beyond. This year has been especially eventful, with Cell Pack Solutions becoming part of the Addtech Group, achieving award shortlists and wins, and advancing our sustainability goals. Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond our business operations, encompassing a circular economy model that considers the environmental impact throughout our products’ entire lifecycle. As part of the Celltech Group, we work with like-minded partners, choosing sustainable solutions at every stage of our custom battery design process. Additionally, our parent company’s membership in the UN Global Compact and commitment to Science Based Targets align us with global efforts toward climate neutrality by 2030 and beyond. With these solid foundations, we look forward to even more success in the years to come as we keep striving to give back and create positive change
