I was asked to do a go to a speed dating event yesterday, but before you get too excited, it was not that “type” of event.
It was an event run by Blue Venture and held at a local South Shields community school, all the “lambs” (volunteer business people) had to sit at tables whilst the “lions” then approached you in “packs” groups of six. You then had to tell them a bit about your business and then answer a lot of the questions that they might or might not have about you or your business.
The most common question seem to be “how much do you get paid” and also in my case because I had a brought a large custom made battery pack, I was asked “Is that a firework or a bomb?”
They were a great bunch of 11 and 12 year olds (year 7’s), new into the school. I asked most of them what do you want to be when you grow up and what football teams did they support.
I would say that the most popular answer by the boys was “I want to be a games designer” or a “Footballer”. The girls seemed to be a lot more diverse from hairdressers to vets and journalists.
Most of the kids seemed to support Manchester United, there were a few Newcastle United and Sunderland A.F.C. there was even a Liverpool F.C. supporter where I tried to get him to see the light but he was having non of it. One young lad said A.C. Milan so I said he should learn some Italian. His response in perfect Italian was “Good day sir, how are you and have a nice day”. As they say never work with animals or kids.
All in all, it was a great morning.
