Caught the end of a TV programme last night – James May was presenting it. It was about his memories of children’s toys and books. There was a great feature about Ladybird Books and how they were so successful at the time. One of their features was their consistency, the quality of its information and the quality of its illustrations.
They mentioned one that was called “Magnets, Bulbs and Batteries” and I have to say that I remember that one. I remember how it discussed how you could cut open a battery to see how it was made up. It was great because it was obviously printed in an age of innocence, an age before health and safety.
I would love to find a copy and if anyone out there can point me in the right direction please do.
