Dive Torch Batteries

Note: We no longer refurbish dive torch batteries.

There is a very wide range of dive torches available on the market, they range from small hand held torches to sophisticated umbilical torches. The small LED rotating bezel torches cost as little as £7 or £8 and run using standard  AA batteries. We supply alkaline batteries that have been hermetically sealed to reduce the chances of leaking in diving conditions. Rechargeable batteries are also available for these torches.

More sophisticated umbilical torches can cost up to, and more than £500; these torches have separate containers which house a special battery, made up of a number of cells. These batteries are usually made of rechargeable NiCd, NiMH or Lithium-ion cells which can deliver enough energy to the high power torches.

We have a lot of experience with dive torch batteries as we have built Custom Battery Packs to fit into dive torches (as well as Dive Computers).

    Good morning sir/madam,
I’m enquiring if you have replacement batteries for the Metalsub XL 7.2 handheld dive torch? It is made of a cluster of 6 NiMH cells of 7.2v, 4.5ah.
I’m a member of a large scuba club in Dublin where a numberof members have this torch.
    Kind regards.
    Eugene

      Hi Eugene,

We would need to see one of the batteries to see if we can make a replacement pack. If it is what we think it is then we would make it using GP450LAH cells and approximate cost would be £30.00.

      Thanks,

      Jonathan

        hi,
did you have a chance to find the correct battery pack replacement for this torch model? I have a the same model and it’s more than 3 years old. S it’s time to replace the b.pack too.
        Thanks

        1. By Jonathan Cell Pack Solutions Ltd on

We can make the battery pack using 6 x GP Batteries 450LAH 18670 Rechargeable Batteries. The approximate cost would be £36.00 + VAT however, we would need to see a picture of the original battery to check the cell layout and to see if there are any protection devices attached.

          Thanks,

          Jonathan

    Hi.

I have a Metalsub canister light with 12 Volt, 9 Ah battery pack and I want to make an upgrade battery pack with Lithium cells and larger capacity. What do I do?

    1. By Callum on

      Hi Rasmus,

As it stands you would not currently be able to make an upgrade battery pack with Lithium cells due to the voltages being different. The nearest voltage you would be able to achieve would be either be 11.1V or 14.4V. Alternatively you could look to increase the capacity using another NiMH pack, where you would look at around 10Ah, but I understand this is probably not as much of a gain as you’re looking for.

      Thanks,

      Callum

I have two aquastar dive torches 3w LED which require battery carriers they used to take 6 AAA batteries can you supply new carriers and if so what would be the cost
    Regards
    A Watson

    1. By Callum on

      Hi Andy,

Unfortunately we are only able to supply the batteries or battery packs used in these torches. For the carriers you would have to try the manufacturer of the torch directly.

      Thanks,

      Callum

Hi, I have a Greenforce Flexi II battery cannister and need a replacement battery. I’ve got some pictures. Where should I send them to get a price? Thanks Nick

  6. By Gavin Walters on

Hi , is it possible to upgrade the batteries in my metalsub fx1204 NiMH 12v 3.8ah battery pack to an alternative with improved capacity (LiIon or improved NiMH)?

    Many Thanks

  7. By Callum on

    Hi Gavin,

You would not be able to upgrade to a Lithium battery pack as the voltage would be different and your charging solution wouldn’t work.

Based on our knowledge of these packs and the capacity you stated your pack will be using GP380AFH cells. Unfortunately we would not be able to make a pack with a higher capacity than you already have, but we could potentially look at making a replacement pack with the same cells.

    Kind Regards,

    Callum

    Hi,
I have an old greenforce umbilical dive torch purchased in around 2005 (not sure of the model# i’m afraid) that requires a replacement battery pack. I do know that the pack is made up of 10 cells and I’m happy to remove the plastic wrap to gain more information on battery type/voltage/configuration if this is something that you could make up to bring my much loved torch back to life.
    Thanks
    Darren
